We are looking for a hands-on, multi-skilled Cloud Engineer to manage, and scale our core infrastructure. This is a critical role that bridges platform engineering, security, and IT operations, ensuring our services remain fast, secure, and resilient 24/7.

The Role

As our Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of our cloud and on-premise infrastructure. You will manage our cutting-edge GCP environment, secure our perimeter with Cloudflare, and ensure our global services meet stringent 99.9% uptime and compliance standards.

This role is perfect for a technical expert who is also a strong communicator, comfortable managing costs, liaising with suppliers, and reporting on system health to senior management.

Key Responsibilities

Platform & Service Management (GCP)

• Deploy, manage, and scale our global, low-latency services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Manage our compute workloads on Cloud Run.
• Maintain and optimize our globally distributed databases on Spanner.
• Manage our data warehousing and analytics capabilities using BigQuery.
• Configure and maintain our GCP Global Load Balancer for high availability and optimal routing.
• Manage in-memory caching solutions with Cloud Memory Store (Redis).

Security & Networking (Cloudflare & Physical)

• Own our global network edge and security posture using Cloudflare.
• Configure and manage Cloudflare WAF and DDoS protection to mitigate threats.
• Manage global DNS routing and configurations.
• Implement and maintain logic at the edge using Cloudflare Workers.
• Implement and manage GCP-native security controls, including Google Armor.
• Manage our small amount of physical office infrastructure, including Ubiquity devices, switches, and firewalls.

Operations, Compliance & Strategy

• Proactively monitor, manage, and optimize all infrastructure costs.
• Ensure the platform and company operations adhere to strict compliance and data privacy standards (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS).
• Administer our corporate Google Workspace environment.
• Provide management and oversight for our small Microsoft Azure footprint.
• Build and maintain intelligence dashboards and reporting for senior management, providing clear insights into system health, performance, and costs.
• Act as the primary technical contact for suppliers and third-party support firms (e.g., DoIT).
• Communicate technical strategies, risks, and performance to senior stakeholders.
• Utilise AI assistant tools (like Gemini) to improve productivity, automate tasks, and accelerate troubleshooting.

Desirable Skills (Nice-to-Haves)

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Scripting and automation skills.
• Experience in the FinTech, payments or high availability systems.
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Professional Google Cloud Architect/Security Engineer) or demonstrable experience.

As a Senior Back-End Engineer, you will own the development and evolution of our core C# services. You will work at the heart of a cutting-edge Google Cloud environment, building high- performance APIs that power global media brands.

This role is perfect for a developer who thrives on engineering excellence. You’ll be tackling the challenges of "scale" head-on, optimising SQL queries for massive datasets in Google Spanner, architecting resilient micro-services on Cloud Run, and ensuring our 24/7/365 platform remains lightning-fast.

Key Responsibilities

API & Service Development

• Architect & Build: Design and maintain robust, scalable back-end services using C# and .NET.
• High-Throughput APIs: Optimise and extend our API layers, maintaining sub-second latency.
• Cloud-Native Engineering: Deploy and manage containerised workloads using Google Cloud Run.
• Data at Scale: Write high-performance queries and design schemas for Google Spanner (Relational/Global) and BigQuery (Analytics).

Security & Performance

• Edge Integration: Work alongside our infrastructure team to integrate services with Google Armor and Cloudflare for robust perimeter security.
• Performance Tuning: Use Redis (Cloud Memory Store) for intelligent caching strategies to reduce database load and improve user experience.
• Code Quality: Maintain a high bar for code quality through rigorous peer reviews, unit testing, and documentation.

Collaboration & Strategy

• Agile Leadership: Participate in well-structured Agile ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning and technical grooming.
• • AI-Augmented Workflow: Actively utilise AI development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Gemini) to accelerate boilerplate tasks, refactor code, and improve unit test coverage.
• • Mentorship: Share knowledge with the wider team and help maintain our culture of continuous learning.

Essential Skills & Experience (Must-Haves)

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Back-End Development, with a mastery of C# and the .NET ecosystem.
• Database Mastery: Deep understanding of SQL and experience working with distributed or large-scale relational databases.
• API Design: Proven track record of building RESTful APIs that are secure, versioned, and highly performant.
• Version Control: Expert-level knowledge of Git and collaborative branching strategies.
• Cloud Familiarity: Experience (or strong desire to work) with Google Cloud Platform, specifically Cloud Run and Spanner.
• The "Engineer" Mindset: A strong grasp of SOLID principles, design patterns, and how to build for failure/resiliency.

Desirable Skills (Nice-to-Haves)

• AI Integration: Experience utilising AI assistants within your daily development workflow to increase velocity.
• Modern DevOps: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, JIRA, Build Services and "Infrastructure as Code" concepts.
• FinTech Background: Experience in payments, subscription modeling, or PCI-DSS compliant environments is an advantage.
